Research shows that adults learn best through active learning, rather than reading, watching a screen or listening to lectures. They enhance their skills by learning from each other’s experiences as well as from class materials and the instructor. Content must be job-related and realistic, rather than academic or theoretical. It is also best to have an instructor who is actually skilled in the topic.
CRST workshops are presented by experienced site professionals in a discussion format, promoting shared experiences and practical learning. Participants are encouraged to bring work samples (forms, recruiting ads, budgets, etc.) and issues related to workshop topics. Our workshops include multiple “hands-on” exercises using everyday site materials and issues.
Experience of Clinical Research Site Professionals
Surveys of site professionals consistently show a strong preference for workshops over print self-study, reading regulations, lectures or on-line learning. In a recent survey, 60 % of respondents rated workshops as a very effective learning method vs. only 16% for online learning. CRST workshops consistently generate excellent reviews in post workshop evaluations and strong referrals to have other clinical research site colleagues attend. All CRST workshops are about the "actual practice of clinical research" at sites. Our focus is on research nurses, CRCs, study coordinators, investigators and other site professionals at private practices, multi-speciality clinics, hospitals and research organizations.
